Are the influences in your child’s life positive?
What about Martial Arts? More and more parents are realizing the benefits associated with Martial Arts programs. No longer is it about punching and kicking, it's about building a better person. There are wonderful structured programs that are designed to bring out the best in each and every child. The programs teach balance and coordination that will help them in many other activities. It also teaches them self confidence and self discipline, which gives them the will to say no despite peer pressure when things are wrong. Martial Arts improve concentration, which often improves school work and it teaches them useful techniques that will help prevent them from danger.
Be selective in your choice of studios. Meet the instructors and questions their beliefs, are the interests of their students the primary concern. View a class and
be comfortable with what you see, they should be structured with discipline and fun. Talk to other parents and students, they'll be honest with you. For junior students it's not so much what system they learn (ie: Karate, Kung fu, Tae kwon do etc.), but how it’s being taught. Martial arts instructors should be role models
for your kids, choose them wisely.
